You downloaded the F-Class Laser Academy app and landed on the Home screen. From here you can visit the website, watch the How to Start video, or jump straight into training by tapping Start. For many shooters the fastest way to learn is simply to begin, so this post walks through the essentials without burying you in instructions.
Screen sharing to a TV or projector is optional. It is helpful later but adds a complication during first-time setup because connecting two smart devices disconnects the phone from the internet. If you plan to compete with Friends immediately, make sure your cellular data is turned on or that you have access to a hotspot. The same applies to in-app purchases, since Apple requires a short online check. For your first session we recommend delaying screen sharing and focusing on setup.
You will notice the Guest button on the Home screen. Guest Mode gives visitors the full training experience without affecting your qualification, performance data, or reports. When the guest is finished, return to the Home screen and tap the button again to turn Guest Mode off.
Now tap Start and scan one of the F-Class Laser Academy scaled targets. When the QR code is found it appears inside a red frame. If reflections or flickering objects interfere with scanning, cover the camera with your fingers for a moment to force a refocus. Once accepted, the LUX meter appears on the live screen. This is your opportunity to confirm that your lighting is even and suitable for laser detection or to walk around and find the most lighting-friendly area in your home.
Tap Next to reach the Practice Confirmation screen. Here you can review target geometry, scoring layout, the Stage Settings menu, optic units such as MOA or MRAD, and your training objectives. Stage Settings unlock after your first 120 saved shots. This limitation reflects real F-Class structure: you do not begin at advanced stages until your fundamentals and baseline qualification are confirmed.
Tap Next again to reach the Performance Dashboard. On your first visit it will be empty. From here you can sign in to Apple Game Center, invite Friends who have Game Center accounts, and prepare for friendly competition. Worldwide competition unlocks automatically after your first 120-shot qualification.
Tap Next once more to move through the onboarding blocks. They will disappear after your first full session and reappear anytime you launch the app fresh. Each block contains multiple images and explanations. You can tap Next to skip or swipe through the images to learn how to make your setup perfect. After onboarding, the Express Setup begins. Step one confirms acceptable lighting and verifies the Reset mark. Step two auto-aligns reticles so the app understands your geometry. Between these two screens, confirm the phone does not cover the Reset mark and take this moment to complete the firing-range validation. The tutorial is inside the app with clear images and step-by-step guidance.
When Express Setup completes, Laser Zeroing begins. This is where your session shifts from setup to true training. The entry expectation is high: Laser Zeroing is accepted only after your shots group within 0.5 MOA or 0.15 MRAD. Remember that F-Class is a prone discipline with a bipod or rest. Begin your zeroing from a stable position. A standing tripod is possible, but it is an advanced skill and you have up to 19 shots to achieve acceptance.
Your training begins with the unavoidable first 120 shots. You may complete them on one target distance or spread them across all six. Some shooters finish this in one day, others take their time. After each 20-shot session your Performance Dashboard fills with progressive data. When you reach 120 shots, Worldwide Leaderboards unlock and the Stage Settings menu becomes active so you can choose more advanced difficulty levels that include ballistics, drop, and wind.
That is your starting path. Clean, structured, and honest. Everything beyond this point is precision work, and the next post continues from here.
